I’m Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack

So it’s been ages since I’ve posted anything on here.  I have been super busy with Maia, who is now 10.5 months old!  I can’t believe that she is almost one year old already.  Time sure flies.

I haven’t been posting for another reason…I’m not sure that I want to continue with having a blog.  I have lots to talk about and lots to write but I just don’t have the time nor the inclination to.  So this may be my last post….but then again, it may not.  I have till June to decide if I’m going to keep this blog.  Therefore, I may be back but I may not be.

We shall see. If I do decide to continue with this blog, I will try to come back more often but if I don’t then I will post a true good-bye post.  So until then, see you later :)

RIP Michael Jackson

Sadly, today Michael Jackson passed away in LA due to cardiac arrest that stopped his heart. He was never revived.

I’ve been a fan since I received his Thriller album when I was maybe 4 years old. He was truly the King of Pop. No matter what you think of him, he was an innovator and trailblazer.

He will be missed.

The Joy’s of Motherhood

Well it’s almost 5 am and Maia doesn’t want to sleep and I do.  Gotta love it.

She’s Here!!!

Well it’s been a long time since I’ve written anything but I’ve been super busy with the end of school and the end of my pregnancy, which finally happened on May 1 2009 at 2:41 am!

Maia Willow made her triumphant debut into the world following a very strange labour.  My labour pains were very irregular for almost 24 hours but then, with virtually no warning, I went from a timed contractions to being 2 to 3 minutes apart, then not long after that it ramped up to about 1 minute apart.  By the time my midwife came to our apartment, I was already 8 to 9 centimetres dilated.  We barely made it to the hospital.  As we were walking down the hallway to the maternity ward, I fell and my water broke.  About an hour later, Maia was born.  She is such an amazing baby.  She wasn’t all wrinkly like most newborns and she cried right away.  I fell in love at first sight.

The first week has passed by pretty quickly and I’m still getting used to having to take care of someone so small and helpless but I’m getting used to it and I’m loving her more and more each day.  She is perfect in every way and Dave and I are so happy.

In school news, I am finally done and I am on the honour roll again for this semester and I will be writing my certification test in the beginning of June.  Here’s hoping I pass! :)

The Final Week!

So this is the final week of school for me!  I am so excited!  School will be over in just a few days.  The only issue is is that I have to get through my exams.  I’m not too worried as I have been doing well this year.  What does worry me is the fact that I missed most of the last two weeks of school due to high blood pressure, which is stress related.  The baby is fine as am I but my BP tends to fluctuate too much for my midwives liking.  Frankly, I think it’s them that are stressing me out and not school because they insist on checking me every 2 to 3 days and then trying to get me to go to the hospital where I’ll be hooked up to these machines, sit there for a few hours, uncomfortable only for them to tell me what I already know: that everything is fine.  I know why they are doing this but it still makes me more stressed out when all I need is to rest and relax.  Unfortunately that doesn’t mean I can miss my exams as I don’t want to have to write them later after the baby is born, but after this week is over, I won’t care as much and I can finally relax and do nothing until the Little One makes their debut.

The Little One is doing well.  Moving around, making my belly shift and bulge strangely and just generally letting me know that they are in there (like I could forget!).  It’s really hard to move around now but with only 2 weeks till my due date, I think I can pup up with it for a little while longer.

The baby’s room is mostly ready, we just have to get a mattress for the crib and a change pad and we’re good. Oh and some laundry needs to be done but I think Dave will take care of that this week.

Getting nervous and excited to meet the Little One, but first and foremost, I just want to finish off this week with no major issues.  Gotta run and get ready for school.  My midwife is coming by today to check me out again…sigh, I hope my BP cooperates today as I really don’t want to go to the hospital again.  Here’s hoping! *crosses fingers*

The Great Diaper Debate

Well, I’m about 35 weeks now so just one more month to go till the Little One is here.  Things are coming along nicely except for the whole diaper thing.  I want to use cloth diapers for the Little One but there are soooo many different kinds of them out there that it’s hard to choose.

My biggest problem is trying to find a diaper delivery service in Toronto.  I can’t believe that there are only 2…TWO services in Toronto that deliver to the entire city (well 3 if you live in the east end)!!!!  And no where does it say if they deliver to apartment buildings.  Somehow I have a feeling that they don’t and we’ll be stuck without a service.  It sucks that we are being excluded just because we can’t afford a house.

Now, I would buy diapers myself and launder them here but the cost associated with that is just about the same as buying disposables, and I can’t even be assured that they will be totally clean.  Again, all these websites assume that you have your own washer and dryer.  Again, being excluded because of where one lives.

With disposables, they are expensive, not very healthy for the baby and since, again, we live in an apartment building, we can’t put them in the green bin because, well apartment buildings don’t have them.

ARG!!!!!!!!!  I really hate this.  No matter what I choose to do, I’m screwed one way or the other.  This sucks so much.  I just want whats best for my baby and I get thwarted at every turn.

*sigh* Well, I have sent a emails to the 2 places that serve Toronto and I am awaiting reply from them.  I really hope at least one of them delivers to apartment buildings.  If not then, I guess it’s disposables for us, possibly with a mix of cloth thrown in.  Fuck I hate all this bullshit.

*EDIT*  I heard back from both places and only one of them actually answered my question, and they do deliver to apartments!  So, as usual, I was stressing over nothing.  Oh well, such is life :)   So we will be going with the place that answered my question, and they have the better rate as well so that helps.

Finally!

So we’ve finally moved into our two bedroom place and I am so happy about that!  It’s a great place with more room, and best of all, we finally get to unpack everything.

I know it’s been a while but I’ve been super busy with school and getting organized here. But I figured I’d drop a short note before heading off to class this morning.  There is only a few more weeks of school left, for which I am so happy. I am so tired from this pregnancy and I really need some down time.  As a result, my attendance hasn’t been the best this semester but I am still doing well, so I don’t care.  I just want it to be over. :)

The baby is doing well, very active and growing nicely.  I just feel like a whale most of the time.  Almost constant pain in my back, my feet and legs are swollen a lot, and I can barely move around, especially in bed.  Oh well, just a few more weeks.  I’m about 34.5 weeks along now, so not much time left!  I’m getting nervous and excited.  I just want to meet the little one already! Oh, and not be pregnant anymore! :P

Sadly I have to run and get ready. I will try to post later.

Man, Does Time Fly!

Wow!  I can’t believe it’s already been almost 3 weeks since we moved!  I guess I’ve been busy with school and stuff and things.  So we’re moving again next week to our final place, the two bedroom. Scratch that, we’re actually not moving until the second week of March so we are stuck here for another few more weeks…sigh.  Oh well, such is life.

I am now on break from school, so after this week things ramp up at school with more tests and projects due, though most of the projects are due near the end of the term which sucks as I am a notorious procrastinator so I am hoping I can at least get some of it started or done.  I would like to finish my nutrition project so I don’t have to worry about that one anymore.

On the baby front, everything is going really well.  Getting bigger every day it seems like which makes it hard to move around but it’s not going to be long now.  Dave was finally able to feel the baby which was cool.

So time for dinner now!  I will post later this week (hopefully)

Tomorrow Is The Day

So tomorrow is moving day and I’m not sure how long I’ll be offline, probably a few days only, but I won’t be updating until later next week or possibly the week after.

So those of you who are going to be watching the Super Bowl,(I’m not a football fan myself but I know a few people who are), I hope your team wins.  As for me, I’ll be trying to help out as much as I can with the move.  So have a great weekend everyone! :)

Moving Day

So Sunday is moving day for us.  We’re moving to another (better) building about 5 minutes or so from us.  Thank goodness!  Normally I hate moving but this time I am happy to do it.  Sadly, the apartment that we’re moving into is only temporary as it’s a one bedroom and the two bedroom that we need is not ready until March but since it is in the same building, the second move will be easy.  I don’t really care as long as we get out of this building into one that is more family oriented, pet friendly (the 12th floor is the kitty floor, where the kitties wander the hallways…I an going to make it a point to visit!) and super close to the hospital and about a 2 minute walk from my midwife office!  BONUS!!  It’s in a great location, and within walking distance of High Park (well I think it’s within walking distance, that remains to be seen).
